Metropolitan Urological Specialists' CT scanning facility adds another level of full service urology for our patients. This technology allows us to more effectively manage our patients' health care as a whole, while ensuring a high standard of quality care.
"No matter what kind of imaging you are having done, you can rest assured knowing you are receiving some of the finest imaging services available in St. Louis."
CT (Computerized Tomography) sometimes called CAT scan, uses special x-ray equipment to obtain image data from different angles around the body and then uses computer processing information to show a cross section of the body tissues and organs.
CT is particularly useful as it is able to show lung, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels with great clarity. By using our specialized equipment and expertise, we are able to create and interpret CT scans and more accurately diagnose cancer, kidney stones, trauma, etc.
CT is painless, non-invasive and accurate. It is also fast and simple and may even eliminate the need for surgery.
You will find our staff prompt, courteous, highly trained, and experienced in CT scanning. Our scheduler will call you prior to your scan and will go over the procedure with you. Once you arrive, a technologist will again explain the scan and answer any questions you may have.
A radiologist, skilled in reading CT scans, works collaboratively with your physician and any specialists involved in your care.
The CT scan is safe for patients of any age. However, there are pre-testing requirements for patients over 50 and who have a history of renal/kidney problems if IV contrast is involved. Also, if you are pregnant, or think you might be, you should tell the technologist prior to your scan.
