TUMT
A TUMT or Transurethral microwave thermotherapy uses microwaves to heat up and burn away excess prostate tissue. This procedure involves inserting a catheter that heats the prostate to a high degree destroying tissue that impedes urinary flow. A system of cooling is in place to protect the urethra from the heat. The procedure is minimally invasive as compared to surgical procedures. Patients will be required to wear a catheter for a few days following this procedure.
