Urodynamics
A urodynamics study is a series of tests completed by a nurse that shows the typical function of your bladder when it is under stress and when it is full. These tests give your physician a detailed understanding of how your bladder, urethra and prostate (for men) behave with urination and any dysfunctions you may have in this area in regards to emptying your bladder.
This study is capable of diagnosing
o
Incontinence-an inability to keep urine from leaking at unwanted times like under stress(coughing, laughing, sneezing, exercise), or when receiving a constant signal from your bladder telling you to urinate
o
Incomplete emptying-an inability to fully empty your bladder when urinating
o
Frequency- a need to urinate often, and feeling unable to hold your urine
o
Urgency- a constant signal from the bladder telling you to urinate more often than normal
o
Dysfunction of stream-Your urinary stream should be strong and constant, testing will show if your stream is weak or intermittent
